How To: Pray the Our Lady Undoer of Knots Rosary Novena

Made popular by Pope Francis who became familiar with this devotion to Our Lady during his studies in Germany, Our Lady the Undoer of Knots theologically dates back years before the image of Our Lady the Undoer of Knots was painted.
Saint Irenaeus wrote that, “The knot of Eve’s disobedience was untied by the obedience of Mary; what the virgin Eve bound by her unbelief, the Virgin Mary loosened by her faith.”

THE HISTORY:

A German nobleman, Wolfgang Langenmantel desired to save his marriage from divorce by seeking counsel from a Jesuit priest Fr. Jakob Rem who was known for his devotion to Our Lady. Wolfgang and his wife Sohpia met Fr. Rem four times in twenty-eight days. September 28, 1615, the couple’s final visit, they brought their wedding ribbon which during 17th century wedding ceremony involved customary practice where the maid of honor tied together the arms of the bride & groom with a white ribbon to symbolized their union for life.

Fr. Rem took their wedding ribbon and untied knots one by one before the image of Our Lady of Snows. Tradition states upon completion of undoing the knots, the ribbon became dazzling white- a sign of Our Lady answering their petition. The Langenmatels remained married and never divorced.

The Lanegenmentel’s Wolfgang’s grandson Fr. Heironymus Ambrosius Langenmantel, in 1700 hundred over 85 years later, commissioned Johann Melchoir Georg Schmittdner to paint a representative of the Langenmantel family for their family altar. Georg Schmittdner, inspired by the story of Wolfgang and Sophia, depicted the narrative. Thus the original Baroque painting of ‘Mary Untier of Knots’ soon became venerated as Mary Undoer of Knots.

THE NOVENA:

Our Lady Undoer of Knots Novena – Day 1

Dearest Holy Mother, Most Holy Mary, you undo the knots that suffocate your children, extend your merciful hands to me. I entrust to You today this knot. . . [Mention your request here] and all the negative consequences that it provokes in my life. I give you this knot that torments me and makes me unhappy and so impedes me from uniting myself to You and Your Son Jesus, my Savior.
I run to You, Mary, Undoer of Knots because I trust you and I know that you never despise a sinning child who comes to ask you for help. I believe that you can undo this knot because Jesus grants you everything. I believe that you want to undo this knot because you are my Mother. I believe that You will do this because you love me with eternal love.

Thank you, Dear Mother.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

The one who seeks grace, finds it in Mary’s hands.

Prayer to Our Lady Undoer of Knots:

Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exist in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that exists in my life. You know very well how desperate I am, my pain, and how I am bound by these knots. Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life. No one, not even the evil one himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands there is no knot that cannot be undone. Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot. . . [Mention your request here] I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all. You are my hope. O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution, and, with Christ, the freedom from my chains. Hear my plea. Keep me, guide me, protect me, o safe refuge! Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. Amen.

Our Lady Undoer of Knots Novena – Day 2

Mary, Beloved Mother, channel of all grace, I return to You today my heart, recognizing that I am a sinner in need of your help. Many times I lose the graces you grant me because of my sins of egoism, pride, rancor and my lack of generosity and humility. I turn to You today, Mary, Undoer of knots, for You to ask your Son Jesus to grant me a pure, divested, humble and trusting heart. I will live today practicing these virtues and offering you this as a sign of my love for You. I entrust into Your hands this knot. . . [Mention your request here] which keeps me from reflecting the glory of God.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Mary offered all the moments of her day to God.

Prayer to Our Lady Undoer of Knots:

Our Lady Undoer of Knots Novena – Day 3

Meditating Mother, Queen of heaven, in whose hands the treasures of the King are found, turn your merciful eyes upon me today. I entrust into your holy hands this knot in my life… [list names] and all the rancor and resentment it has caused in me. I ask Your forgiveness, God the Father, for my sin. Help me now to forgive all the persons who consciously or unconsciously provoked this knot. Give me, also, the grace to forgive me for having provoked this knot. Only in this way can You undo it. Before You, dearest Mother, and in the name of Your Son Jesus, my Savior, who has suffered so many offenses, having been granted forgiveness, I now forgive these persons… [list names] and myself, forever. Thank you, Mary, Undoer of Knots for undoing the knot of rancor in my heart and the knot which I now present to you. Amen.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Turn to Mary, you who desire grace.

Our Lady Undoer of Knots Novena – Day 4

Dearest Holy Mother, you are generous with all who seek you, have mercy on me. I entrust into your hands this knot which robs the peace of my heart, paralyzes my soul and keeps me from going to my Lord and serving Him with my life.
Undo this knot in my love…., O mother, and ask Jesus to heal my paralytic faith which gets downhearted with the stones on the road. Along with you, dearest Mother, may I see these stones as friends. Not murmuring against them anymore but giving endless thanks for them, may I smile trustingly in your power.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Mary is the Sun and no one is deprived of her warmth.

Mother, Undoer of Knots, generous and compassionate, I come to You today to once again entrust this knot…in my life to you and to ask the divine wisdom to undo, under the light of the Holy Spirit, this snarl of problems. No one ever saw you angry; to the contrary, your words were so charged with sweetness that the Holy Spirit was manifested on your lips. Take away from me the bitterness, anger and hatred which this knot has caused me. Give me, o dearest Mother, some of the sweetness and wisdom that is all silently reflected in your heart. And just as you were present at Pentecost, ask Jesus to send me a new presence of the Holy Spirit at this moment in my life. Holy Spirit, come upon me!

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Mary, with God, is powerful.

I renounce all of them today, every connection I have had with them and I proclaim Jesus as my one and only Lord and Savior. Mary, Undoer of Knots, crush the evil one’s head and destroy the traps he has set for me by this knot. Thank you, dearest Mother. Most Precious Blood of Jesus, free me!

Bring me Jesus, bring me the Holy Spirit. Teach me to practice the virtues of courage, joyfulness, humility and faith, and, like Elizabeth, to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Make me joyfully rest on your bosom, Mary. I consecrate you as my mother, Queen and friend. I give you my heart and everything I have (my home and family, my material and spiritual goods.) How To: Pray the Divine Mercy Novena

St. Faustina Kowalska’s wrote in her Diary that Jesus requested the Feast of Divine Mercy be preceded by a Divine Mercy Novena beginning on Good Friday.  He gave St. Faustina a specific intention to pray for on each day of the Novena. In her diary, St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her:

“On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy … On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls.”

Please, join me in praying this powerful novena given to us by Jesus Christ invoking His Ocean of Mercy and praying for the salvation of souls & conversion of sinners, especially those most in need of His mercy and those within our own families, parishes, and communities.

HOW TO PRAY THE NOVENA:

  1. Begin the Divine Mercy Novena on Good Friday.
  2. Pray The Designated Daily Prayer Intention.
  3. Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
  4. If you do not know how to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy or need a refresher course, please, follow this LINK

First Day
Today bring to Me all mankind, especially all sinners,

and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me.”

Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy for ever and ever. Amen.

Second Day
Today bring to Me the Souls of Priests and Religious,

and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave me strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them as through channels My mercy flows out upon mankind.”

Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in men and women consecrated to Your service,* that they may perform worthy works of mercy; and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company of chosen ones in Your vineyard — upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others in the way of salvation and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless mercy for ages without end. Amen.

Third Day
Today bring to Me all Devout and Faithful Souls,

and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were a drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness.”

Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this grace of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Fourth Day
Today bring to Me those who do not believe in God and those who do not know Me,

I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy.”

Most compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Fifth Day
Today bring to Me the Souls of those who have separated themselves from My Church,

and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion.”

Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son’s Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Sixth Day
“Today bring to Me the Meek and Humble Souls and the Souls of  Little Children,

and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence. ”

Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, “Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.” Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father’s favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Seventh Day
“Today bring to Me the Souls who especially venerate and glorify My Mercy,

and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death.”

Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God:

Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them that during their life, but especially at the hour of death, the souls who will venerate this fathomless mercy of His, He, Himself, will defend as His glory. Amen.

Eighth Day
Today bring to Me the Souls who are in the prison of Purgatory,

and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice.”

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.

Ninth Day
Today bring to Me the Souls who have become Lukewarm,

and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: ‘Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.’ For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy.”

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy. Amen.

MAY GOD BLESS & KEEP YOU ALL NOW & ALWAYS!

Monthly Devotion: St. Andrew Christmas Novena or Christmas Anticipation Novena

St. Andrew Christmas Novena

A medieval tradition, the St. Andrew Christmas Novena or Christmas Anticipation Novena beings on the Feast of St. Andrew the Apostle and continues all four weeks of Advent ending on Christmas Day. This novena helps prepare us for the Birth of Our Lord. Tradition states that women used to pray this novena for a good and godly spouse.

Please, join me in praying the Christmas Anticipation Novena!

Immaculate Conception Novena

Please, join me in praying the Immaculate Conception Novena. The novena begins TODAY (Wednesday.) This novena begins 9 days before the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

A few years ago, I remember working in San Antonio, Texas. There are a string of colonial Spanish missions called the “Mission Trail.” The one Mission is still an active parish and has remainders of the original. The name of that Mission titled Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purisima Concepción de Acuña or Mission Concepcion. This novena transported me back to that sweltering day many summers ago visiting one of the oldest missions in North America. A mission named for Our Lady, the Immaculate Conception.

NOVENA PRAYERS FOR THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

O most pure Virgin Mary conceived without sin, from the very first instant, you were entirely immaculate. O glorious Mary full of grace, you are the mother of my God – the Queen of Angels and of men. I humbly venerate you as the chosen mother of my Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Prince of Peace and the Lord of Lords chose you for the singular grace and honor of being His beloved mother. By the power of His Cross, He preserved you from all sin. Therefore, by His power and love, I have hope and bold confidence in your prayers for my holiness and salvation.

I pray that your prayers will bring me to imitate your holiness and submission to Jesus and the Divine Will.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Now, Queen of Heaven, I beg you to beg my Savior to grant me these requests…

(Mention your intentions)

My holy Mother, I know that you were obedient to the will of God. In making this petition, I know that God’s will is more perfect than mine. So, grant that I may receive God’s grace with humility like you.

As my final request, I ask that you pray for me to increase in faith in our risen Lord; I ask that you pray for me to increase in hope in our risen Lord; I ask that you pray for me to increase in love for the risen Jesus!

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

How To: Pray the Miraculous 54 Day Rosary Novena

Months ago I wrote a blog post The 54 Day Rosary Novena . . . Whew! expressing my initial experience with praying this beautiful and arduous rosary novena. The post gives an overview of how the 54 Day Rosary novena came to be. A labor of love, the Miraculous 54 Day Rosary novena cultivates virtue and the fruits of the Holy Spirit with each Hail Mary and bead that becomes a crown of love and virtue placed upon Our Lady’s brow.

I find myself again amid the early stages of the 54 Day Rosary Novena. A place I had not imagined I would be again so soon. Life has an unexpected and expected way of happening. I decided to cling to Our Lady and the hope of her intercession instead of my own control.

But how does a person pray to 54 Day Rosary Novena? Do I just pray 54 Rosaries or 1 Rosary over 54 Days? Are there specifics prayers or format that make the Rosary Novena distinct from praying the Rosary? Yes and Yes.

St. Therese of Lisieux Novena

st-theresePlease, join me and over 200,000 other members of the Pray More Novenas community in praying this powerful novena to the Little Flower. St. Therese is known as the Little Flower. This is because those who receive miracles by her intercession are often given roses or flowers as a sign. She is sometimes called St. Therese of the Child Jesus as well. Though this beautiful, young woman, who died from TB at the age of 24, lived in a cloistered Discalced Carmelite convent, St. Therese is the patron saint of missions and missionaries for her “Little Way” spirituality and the many lives this saint has touched.

In the Words of my confirmation saint:

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily
do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm.
If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.”

Below is an excerpt from Day 9 of the St. Therese Novena:

I love your people, Lord. Help me to love them more!
I reflect you to the world, Lord. Help me to reflect you more clearly!
I rely on you, Lord. Help me to rely on you more!
I accept your will, Lord. Help me to accept your will every day!
I try to forgive, Lord. Help me to forgive 70 times 7 times!
I am humble, Lord. Give me more humility!
I see you, Lord. Help me to see you more!
I trust you, Lord. Help me to trust you more!
I love you, Lord. Help me to love you more!

Please, join me tomorrow (Thursday) in invoking St. Therese, The Little Flower.

St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Novena

#HolyFamily #Nativity

Please, join me in praying the nine Day Novena to St. Jospeh, Husband of Mary. The novena already started through PrayMoreNovenas.com. Mea Culpable for missing the novena start date. However, St. Joseph’s Feast Day occurs on March 19th and the novena invokes a powerful intercessor.

http://www.praymorenovenas.com/podcast/day-1-st-joseph-husband-mary-novena-2017

March 19th marks my brother and sister-in-law’s sixth wedding anniversary. Yes, my brother and his wife were married in the Feast of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary. What an amazing wedding date! And a wonderful reminder to all of us to pray for the intercession of St. Jospeh, husband of Mary. He is the model of human fatherhood: a provider, a leader, and a protector. A devout, virtuous, and humble man God chose to watch over the Holy Mother and our instrument of salvation, the child Jesus.

May we ask for his intercession in our relationships, marriages, families, and children. May we all receive the grace to be a Holy Family. And may we all have the grace and blessing of dying in the arms of Jesus and Mary.

St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, pray for us.

St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer, pray for us.

AMEN.

St. Andrew Christmas Novena

Happy Feast Day of St. Andrew!

The St. Andrew Christmas Novena or the Christmas Anticipation Novena begins TODAY, November 30th and goes until Christmas Eve, December 24th. The novena prayer is prayed 15 x’s per day. This novena is a medieval novena with a legacy. Stories and legends surround this novena. Tradition states that woman through the ages petitioned Our Lord the Christ Child for assistance in finding a husband. But the novena can be prayed for many reasons.

Immaculate Conception Novena

Please, join me and 300,000 others praying the Immaculate Conception Novena. The novena begins TODAY [Tuesday]. This novena begins 9 days before the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

This novena reminder transported me back to that sweltering day many summers ago visiting one of the oldest missions in North America.

Amen.
